Une peinture de Léonard de Vinci qu’on croyait perdue ou même inexistante a été découverte dans la voûte d’une banque suisse.

Ce portrait d’Isabelle d’Este, une femme influente de l’Italie, a été exécuté il y a cinq siècles. On croyait qu’il avait été perdu. D’autres prétendaient qu’il n’existait pas. Pourtant, le Louvre possède le croquis au crayon datant de 1499 qui a servi d’inspiration au chef-d’œuvre. La peinture fait partie d’une collection privée. Le propriétaire tient à conserver l’anonymat.

A painting from Leonardo da Vinci thought to be lost or even inexistent has been discovered in a bank vault in Switzerland.

The painting, executed five centuries ago, shows Isabella d’Este, an influential Italian women. It was taught to be lost until recently. Some believed it had never existed. However, the Louvre has a pencil sketch done in 1499 which was considered as the forerunner of the « lost » painting. It is part of a private collection. The owner refuses to divulge his name.
